Mt. Gulugod-Baboy and Sombrero IslandMonday, January 25, 2016
After the hike, we went to Sombrero (Hat) Island as a side trip. As you might have guessed, it is shaped like a hat. The entrance fee is worth 200PhP/person. To get there, you must take a boat ride which costs 2500PhP/15 persons max. This trip could be arranged by your guide from the hike. It’s a great place to cool down and relax, as you will see later.
We arrived at the foot of the mountain (Aquaventure/PhilPan Resort) at around 5 AM. Our goal was to watch the sunrise. We met with our guide first, bought food and then headed for the trail.
The first part was the hardest – the trail was steeply sloped and made of concrete. But once you step on soil (start of the hike), it’ll get better.
The hills are alive~ I was only able to bring out my camera when we were already near the peak.
The sky looks lovely.
At this point, we have already reached the first peak. It was so cold and foggy up there, only up there.
I would love to camp there overnight and lie under the stars.
They were standing at that spot the whole time, so I included them in the photo. It turned out to be not so bad after all.
Halfway down, I was able to take a photo of this view – something I wasn’t able to do on the way up.
After eating lunch, we headed for Sombrero Island. It is a beautiful place – clean, green and serene. Also, it was not crowded with people. The only downside for me was the stony shore.
The photo on the right shows the boat we rode on.
Aww, they are so cute! I wanted to swim with them but I got shy, haha.
(Almost) All to ourselves. By 4 PM, we headed back because the waves were getting stronger.
The world is a beautiful place.
