Belle de Jour Rendezvous: Woman with Vision

Sunday, February 28, 2016

Last February 20, my friend and I attended the BDJ Rendezvous: Woman with Vision, thanks to Clozette Blogger Babes. It was timely for me since I just graduated from graduate school, thus I am in need of guidance as to what my next steps are going to be. There were a couple of key takeaways from the event – things I never knew and more importantly, things I knew all along but needed to be reminded of.

Vision is an idea or a mental image of what you want to be/do/have in the future. We are all aware of its importance. It is a powerful force, it pulls you forward; it is a map, it provides you direction. However, what’s more important than having a vision is acting on it. In order for vision to become a reality, it must be acknowledged that creating it is preceded by knowing yourself, and is followed by taking action.

"Vision without action is merely a dream. Action without vision just passes the time. Vision with action can change the world."
– Joel A. Barker
So how does one harness the power within to take the lead? The answer is by taking on challenges with a winning approach. Doesn’t make any sense?  I’ll just leave it to the experts to enlighten you.
Ms. Lia, the host of the event, is even more beautiful in person. We were starstruck.
"In order to take the lead, you must take the leap.
Dream, create, take action.
Lighten up and shine."
– Omehra Sigahne, Taking the Lead
"Traveling makes you stronger, opens your mind and most especially changes you."
– Patricia Yulo, Harnessing Your Power Within

Ms. Patricia was the first documented Filipino to travel without a bag. How did she do it? By wearing a gun vest she stuffed with spare clothes.
"Young professionals in their 20s-30s must learn how to SELFIE – Security, Enjoyment fund, Livelihood, Fixed expenses, Insurance and Education."
– Lianne Martha Laroya, The Challenge That Saves

Can you believe she’s only 24 years old?
"You must be prepared to FAIL (For All I’ve Learnt).
Our lives are made up of a series of todays. There is no day but today. Make it
count."
– Cecilia Schrijver, Winning Approach in Life
There were a lot of games, including raffle, throughout the course of the event. No one left Gateway Activity Center empty-handed – I won a Parisian bag, while my friend got a 1000 PhP voucher from Keds. I have to applaud the organizers for getting many sponsors. BDJ Rendezvous: Woman with Vision was fun, enlightening and inspiring. We definitely enjoyed every bit of it.
