Quick Trip to Hong Kong

December 27, 2016

Last September, Mama, Mommy and I went on a short trip to Hong Kong. Since shopping was at the top of the agenda, we stayed at Evergreen Hotel near Temple Street Night Market and Jade Market. These two are among the most popular night markets in Hong Kong. My travel companions are not exactly the adventurous types, which is why I made sure that the hotel has a shuttle service to and from the airport and could arrange city tours for their guests. We were only after Victoria Peak, so we booked the Deluxe Hong Kong Island Tour. Details are shown below.

The Deluxe Hong Kong Island Tour was arranged by Gray Line Tours. Sadly though, it rained on our tour.

Victoria Peak and Sky Terrace 428

The peak tram had to be taken to reach the Sky Terrace 428, which is 428 meters above sea level hence the name. It is the highest viewing deck in Hong Kong, offering a 360-degree panoramic view across the Hong Kong.

Aberdeen Fishing Village

Basically, it is a floating village where fishermen reside. This is also where the Jumbo Floating Restaurant is located.

Stanley Market

Another shopping destination for buying souvenirs.

Tour around HK on a Hop-On Hop-Off Bus

This is a great way to explore Hong Kong since there are a lot of stops where you can hop-on and hop-off. Unfortunately for us, time was scarce.

Temple Street Night Market

Night market shopping tip: Do not agree on the initial price they tell you, no matter how cheap you think it is. Walk away; they will run after you and let you haggle down the price. If you are good at negotiating (like my mother), you can lower the price to 50%. I bought 3 bags (gameboy bag, milk box bag and prism bag) at Temple Street Night Market because they were unique. I got them at a good price too. Thanks Mama!
