Japan 2016: Nabana no Sato

Wednesday, October 18, 2017

Located just outside Nagoya, Nabato no Sato is a must-see destination for tourists (and residents alike). It is a part of the Nagashima Resort, which also comprises of the Nagashima Spaland amusement park, a water park, a hot spring (onsen) complex and an outlet shopping mall. It is one of the largest flower parks in Japan, with a landscape that changes every season. During the warmer seasons, expect to see fields of tulips in the spring, an ocean of hydrangeas and irises in early summer, and a carpet of cosmoses (autumn sakura) and dahlias in the fall. From mid-October to early May, the park comes alive at night with winter illuminationsTo be honest, it is unlike anything I have ever seen before—just breathtaking! Standing there, my eyes welled up with tears. Being the flower girl that I am, I recommend that you visit the Begonia Garden (photos below).
(Note: Videos of the illuminations are available at the end of this post.)
