Paris 2017: Louvre Museum & Palais-Royal

March 14, 2020

Day two was about art appreciation at the Louvre. Its architecture is art in itself; but wait until you see the collection of sculpture and paintings it houses. I was able to get a glimpse of the The Coronation of Napoleon and of course, the Mona Lisa, which was a crowd favorite. It was also interesting to hear the stories behind these artworks, so make sure you join a guided tour or rent an audio guide when you visit.

Morning stroll around the neighborhood

The Louvre Museum
Venus de Milo, a Greek statue known to represent Aphrodite
Arguably the most popular statue in this museum: Winged Victory of Samothrace
Hallways lined with statues and ceilings decorated with paintings
Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci
The Coronation of Napoleon by Jacques-Louis David
Palais-Royal, just opposite the Louvre
